Drinking and driving don't mix

Well, in this case the driving was Mom and the drinking was bottled water which resulted in the pictures you see here as well as a dislocated shoulder on Mom and many bumps and bruises. We know that someone lost a couple of cases of bottled water on the ramp going from I-20 to I-55. We believe that there was one in the road still that Mom accidentally hit and from her description it got wedged between her front fender and tire resulting in loss of control. Fortunately, when she realized this, she bailed and wasn't hurt any worse. She watched her bike go end over end and land upside down on its tank probably about 30 yards from her. We are still waiting to hear if her bike was totaled or not. Of course, wonderboy Steve was called to the scene. He assessed the situation and immediately hopped on the bike, fired it up, and drove it into the back of his truck. He had to have some help when he got to the top of the ditch because as you can see, the forks and handlebars are a bit bent. The guys helped him turn it around and hold it straight while he drove it in. When I heard Steve start it, as I was walking away, I heard one of the police officers start to say, "That son of a...". I'm sure it was followed by "is going to drive that bike up here." He was right. Now we are just waiting on Mom to mend and we are all glad that she is OK. Motorcycles are replaceable, but mom aren't.

Looks like she could have REALLY been hurt. Glad she survived.

glad your mom is going to be ok. that is always a scary call to get: "your mom wrecked her bike!"

So happy things were not worse - look at the damage that can be caused by a bike wreck - http://mathey-donia.blogspot.com/2008/08/first-bicycling-accident.html
Even banged up that's one cool bike!

Oh My Goodness!!!!!! When you say that she bailed, what exactly did that entail?? Bailed, as in - she jumped off the bike while on the stack???

It looks like it could have been an awful accident. I'm glad she's not hurt any worse than she is.
